MCCC Medical Assisting program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Curriculum Review Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants Endowment (AAMAE). You will be prepared to sit for the RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) exam sponsored by the American Association of Medical Technologist Association.
Medical Assisting students are required to take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) prior to being admitted. A 9th grade equivalency is required in reading, spelling, math computation, and math application. If a student scores below the cutoff, he/she will be referred to the Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE) Program for individual tutoring. The student attending the ABLE program will be admitted on a conditional basis and have one semester to reach the cutoff score. If the student does not reach the cutoff score at the end of the semester, he/she will be dismissed from the program. Credits transferred from a non-accredited Medical Assisting Program must be approved by the Adult Education Director. The transfer credit must be equivalent competencies and may not exceed 50% of the MCCC Medical Assisting coursework program. The externship must be completed in the MCCC program. The Medina County Career Center does not remunerate students for work done on medical assisting externship assignments. There will be no payment of any type made to the student for the externship experience. Graduates earn 18 semester/29 quarter hours of CT2 College Credit.
